Things to do

Some of our favorite things to do and they are what make Cincinnati unique in our heart.

BREWERY HERITAGE TRAIL

Take a guided or self-guided tour along the brewery heritage trail to check out the historic brewery sites from the prohibition period.

Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption

One of the most beautiful cathedral in Cincinnati.

CINCINNATI ART Museum

Free admissions everyday. Check out the nearby Krohn Conservatory, Eden Park and Mt. Adams neighborhood while you are there.

Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden

Come meet Fiona, a baby hippo that was born at the Cincinnati zoo in 2017. She is internationally famous. We even have a chunky chunky hippo flavor at Graeter’s ice cream.

Contemporary Arts Center (CAC)

Designed by Zaha Hadid, CAC is a one of the coolest building in Cincinnati.

Findlay Market

Farmer’s market with produces, crafts, local foods, biergarten and more. Some of our favorite vendors are Pho Lang Thang, Taste of Belgium, The Gourmand Group and Dojo Gelato. Closed on Mondays.

Jungle Jim’s

Jungle Jim’s is an international supermarket like a museum or theme park for food.

murals

While a tour might be not available around Sept 7th, take a self-guided tour based on the list of featured murals.

Smale Riverfront Park

Take a stroll along the riverfront park for the Ohio river and the Cincinnati skyline.

The Party Source

Think about all the bourbon you can get from Kentucky. The Party Source is a one stop destination for over 20,000 product selections including beer, wine, spirits etc. Check out New Riff Distilling across the parking lot while you are there. The Party Source is only 15-20mins from the CVG airport.

Pedal Wagon

Get on a pedal powered adventure while you tour around the city!

Local Eateries

No chains or franchises. Just some of our favorite local establishments.

SOTTO

The best freshly made pasta. Jenny dreams about their short rib cappellacci and salted caramel beignets almost everyday.

BOCA

Owned by the same chef from Sotto, John’s favorite here is the Amish Chicken.

JEFF RUBY

Everyone raves about Jeff Ruby in Cincinnati. Our favorite steakhouse. But to be honest, Jenny loves their black truffle butter more than anything on the menu.

ELI’s BBQ

Simply a local, casual and tasty BBQ joint. You can also find Eli’s in Findlay Market and some Kroger Marketplace.

TASTE OF BELGIUM

Waffles, crepes, and the TOB latte.

SkYLINE’s CHILLI

Your trip to Cincinnati is not complete if you haven’t been to Skyline. We suggest the cheese coney or chilli cheese fries. If you are feeling adventurous, try the 3-way (spaghetti + chilli + shredded cheddar cheese).

GRAETER’S

Same as everyone else, our all-time favorite is the classic black Raspberry chocolate chip flavor. But really, we like any flavors with chocolate chip.

SLEEPY BEE

Founded by a doctor, an artist and a chef. Everything is fresh, delicious and locally sourced.

french crust cafe & bistro

French Crust always have a special place in our heart, this is where we went on our first date. Even though their original location is closed, we love their new Findlay market location.

RED FEATHER KITCHEN

Everything is seasonal and made from scratch. Get extra beignets if you are there for brunch.

DEWEY’s PIZZA

If you must get pizza, go to Dewey’s. You can’t go wrong with any of the specialty pizzas, our favorite is the Bronx Bomber.

Local Breweries

Our top 5 picks.

RHINEGEIST BREWERY

Our usual drink is the Cheetah (Lager) but they always have some fun seasonal brews. Go for a beer and stay for the cornhole. Located in Over-The-Rhine (OTR), just know that parking is limited. If you are taking the street car, there is a stop right in front of the brewery.

MADTREE BREWERY

This is where we get our growlers, spacious brewery with a nice patio. Located in Oakley area, down the street from Red Feather Kitchen.

CHRISTIAN Moerlein

Try the Christian Moerlein Tap Room (Brewery) or Moerlein Lager House (Restaurant). The brewery is located in Over-The-Rhine (OTR) and the restaurant is located in the downtown riverfront park.

TAFT’s ALE HOUSE

Named after William Howard Taft, the ale house was once the oldest protestant parish in the Queen city. We love the story and everything this alehouse has the offer.

West Side Brewing

The very first brewery on the West side of Cincinnati and only 5+ miles from our house.

Bourbon

If you can’t make it down to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, you can still get your bourbon fix in Cincinnati.

Horse & Barrel Bourbon House

We like the happy hour $5 “Old & Cold” special that includes a draft beer and a shot of bourbon. Check out the 21C hotel next door while you are in downtown Cincinnati.

Bourbon Haus 1841

A bourbon bar with an extensive collection where you can drink bourbon all day long. Located in the Mainstrasse German village in Covington, Kentucky.

Old Kentucky Bourbon Bar

Also located in Covington, Kentucky and walking distance from the Bourbon Haus 1841.
